You can change your account owner, first day of the week, time/date settings, and other preferences from Settings (upper right corner).

Only people with administrator permissions can view and change Account Settings. If you don’t see the Settings link in your navigation, you don’t have administrator permissions.

Account Owner

The account owner is the person who originally set up your Harvest account. The account owner has all administrator privileges and is the only one who can close your Harvest account. To change the account owner for your Harvest account, have the current* account owner follow these steps:

  1. Click on Settings (upper right corner).
  2. Click Edit Preferences.
  3. On the Edit Preferences page, choose one of the existing administrators to be the new account owner.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Preferences.

Time Settings

  1. Click on Settings (upper right corner).
  2. Click Edit Preferences.
  3. You can format the following time settings:
    • Time format – Choose whether time appears in a 12-hour or 24-hour clock.
    • Time display – Choose whether time appears in decimal format (ie. 2 hours, 15 minutes appears as 2.25) or as HH:MM (ie. 2 hours, 15 minutes appears as 2:15).
    • TimestampTrack time via duration (ie. entering time in decimal or HH:MM format) or via start and end times. By default, Harvest tracks time by duration.
  4. Save your settings.

Note: HH:MM only shows on timesheets. On reports and invoices, time is in decimal format for greater precision.

Currency

Here’s how to change your account’s default currency:

  1. Click on Settings (upper right corner).
  2. Click Edit Preferences.
  3. You will see the option to change your currency about halfway down the page.

Start Week On

You can set Timesheets and Reports to display the first day of the week as Sunday, Monday, or Saturday.

  1. Click on Settings (upper right corner).
  2. Click Edit Preferences.
  3. Scroll down to Start Week On, and select the day you’d like your account to display as the first in the week.
  4. Save your settings.

Note: When this setting is changed, all existing timesheets will be shifted to start the week on the day selected. This includes approved timesheets.

Time Rounding

Summary reports (under Reports > Time) can automatically round your time entries. You can export a CSV spreadsheet (which can be opened by Excel) with an additional column that will have rounded values to assist you in your reporting. To turn this feature on:

  1. Click on Settings (upper right corner).
  2. Click Edit Preferences.
  3. Change the option for Time Rounding.

Once the rounding preference is on, your hours will also be rounded for new invoices you create.

Note: Although rounding is applied to summary reports and invoices, it’s not applied to actual time entries or detailed time reports (under Reports > Detailed Time).
